In the past, many Acreage residents refused public water. But the recent number of brain and other tumors in the area has encouraged many homeowners to request connection to county water at tonight's meeting.
The hook-up could cost 100 million dollars to connect all of the homes to county water and homeowners would have to help cover costs.
Indian Trail Improvement District officials are already warning that there is no formal item on tonight's agenda to address the water issue. But the district says it does plan to team up with Palm Beach County to set a date for public input. They expect it to be sometime in September - after findings on soil samples in The Acreage are released.
The meeting of the Indian Trail Improvement District starts tonight at 6:30.
