PALM BEACH COUNTY, FL -- In the quiet Coral Gardens neighborhood of Stuart, one simple two bed two bath home carries a haunting past.
"They came in this window, took the screen off, opened it up and walked right in," says Jamie, who did not want to be identified by her last name.
Thieves walked out with nearly to $2,000 in jewelry. Jamie just can't shake the feeling she's not alone.
"The idea that my house isn't safe makes nervous all the time now," she said.
Many other robbery victims share her fears and concerns. Now a new window is promising to bring back a sense of security. The Tapco screen claims it's unbreakable.
With the best possible technology available a test was arrranged. A 2 x 4 was launched into the screen equal to the force of a category 2 hurricane.
Two tests proved no match.
"The missile did not penetrate the specimen there's no tears in it so its passing," said Kristin Norville at the Hurricane Test Lab in Riviera Beach.
Even whacked with a crow bar it simply will not tear. It fits right over existing windows keeping the bad guys out and in return giving back piece of mind for homeowners every day and every night.
"There's only so much you can do before someone comes in if they want to," says Jamie who is considering looking into buying the product.
