WEST PALM BEACH, FL-- The Palm Beach County Health Department is holding its first major community outreach to get people vaccinated for swine flu.
Vaccinations are being given free of charge at the Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church at 801 8th Street in West Palm Beach until 3 p.m. Monday.
Only healthy people 2 to 24, with no respiratory or other chronic health problems, are eligible.
The health department ordered about 300 of the flu mist vaccines- but as of midday, only about 15 people had taken advantage of the vaccine.
Christina and Christopher Matthews were among the more than a dozen to receive the swine flu vaccine.
Nervous at first, they said it wasn't as scary as they thought it would be.
The health department's aim is to protect as many children as possible. There was some disappointment that so few youngsters were brought in.
A parent of guardian is required to accompany children under 18.
Regardless, the health department says the vaccines will be used if today isn't a success.
Today's swine flu shots will be given to the first 300 people who are eligible.
It's also available to healthy adults up to 49 years old who care for babies under 6 months old.
