As we age, we notice the effects of gravity..for women, sometimes even what doesn't physically change can use a little help.
Roxanne Stein shows us what some women are doing to get just the "lift" they need.
Janus McCrea wants every middle age woman to know something: "60 is the new 40, well, it's the new 30, i'm actually busier now."
Busy or not..feeling 30 is one thing..'looking' it is another..
"All of a sudden the size 8 used to be up here and i'm looking down there it doesn't support the same way."
"Down there" is to Janus's chest..her breasts, to be exact.
"Things move and you don't know it.."
Gravity takes it's toll on most women's breasts as they age..
Janus did not want to have surgery.
She has an option: instead of incisions, Janus is turning to laser to lift her breasts.
"The laser is cooling the skin and throwing energy into collagen in the dermis."
Dr. Jason Pozner of Boca Raton notes that the laser is painless, and because the skin isn't damaged, there isn't any healing time.
"What this does is cause secondary collagen changes to the skin, basically what you are doing is improving collagen that's been damaged by sun damage, time age and other factors."
"The laser breast lift provides lift for most peole but Dr. Pozner cautions that many patients will not see a dramatic lift."
"This technology in the best of cases will give you 20-30% improvement..if someone is extremely sun damaged, it's not the right procedure."
Results of the laser 'lift' can be felt immediately.
"It usually will take a month but you see immediate contraction, but some of the most permanent effects take a month to see."
"It's subtle, all of a sudden the same size but things fit entirely different.."
That's just what Janus wanted to see when she stood in front of the mirror.
"Thrilled!! thrilled!! You go from looking like a gourd to looking like an apple."
"Do you feel young and sexy? My husband says I do, so yes it does.."
Patients need 3 treatments 2 to 4 weeks apart for best results, and it costs anywhere from 750 to 1200 dollars per treatment.
Janus was having her second treatment.
You can expect the lift to last about a year before you may need a touch up.
