Aerobics
The word 'aerobic' is derived from the root word for 'air.' It refers to any activity that increases the efficiency of the body's oxygen delivery system.

Bicycling
Riding a bike is a great way to build muscular and cardiovascular endurance because it uses many large muscles in a continuous, repetitive motion. Bicycling is especially good for developing the front thigh muscles.

Developing an aerobics program
When developing an aerobics program, choose an activity you enjoy, or even pick a variety of activities for the benefits of cross-training. Pick the time of day to exercise when you will be least likely to face scheduling conflicts and interruptions.

In-line skating
Rollerblades, or in-line skates, are similar to regular roller skates, with a few differences. Rollerblades are faster and easier to maneuver. The blades have three to five small wheels arranged in a row, whereas regular roller skates have two pairs of wheels in the front and back.

Running
Running is an excellent cardiovascular exercise that has enjoyed great popularity throughout the years. If you've never jogged before, it's a good idea to start by alternating walking with jogging.

Stairmaster
The stairmaster gives a great lower-body work-out and is a convenient fit for any schedule because it can be done indoors in any weather, at any time of day or night.

Swimming
Swimming is an excellent alternative to other forms of exercise activity. This is especially true if you have any injuries or diseases, such as arthritis, because water supports your weight to relieve the pressure on ankles, knees, and hips.

Target heart rate
When you exercise, it's important to work at an intensity level that's right for you. This is defined as your target heart rate. The target heart rate is what your pulse rate should be in order to exercise safely and to receive the maximum cardiovascular benefits.

Walking
Walking is an excellent alternative to running. It is a sport that is easy to participate in and can be done virtually anywhere. Fewer injuries occur while walking than in most other sports.
