PALM BEACH, FL- NewsChannel 5 helicopter pilot Captain Julie spotted a funnel cloud today off the coast of Palm Beach.
It was east of the Breakers hotel. At the time meteorologist Keenan Smith was monitoring a line of thunderstorms.
He said there were a couple of funnel clouds that formed today between the Palm Beach and Broward county coastlines.
Smith said the funnel clouds resulted from shifting winds which began to rotate.
If a funnel cloud touches the ocean it becomes a water spout which can problems for boaters.
