The sad part is he was just convicted and he has lived his life in luxury and now he's 71 going to jail. Big deal. He led the life of luxury for so many years, so has his wife, and children and I'm sure there are many more. Big deal, he's an old man who lived a wonderful life as he ruined the lives of so many. I'm not impressed. I just hope everything he and his family own is confiscated and sold and returned to the charities and those who now have no future. I'm not worried about the other rich millionaires, I care about the charities and people left penniless in their retirement age.

Madoff only got 2 months per victim. Do the math. 150 years for 9000 victims. Even though he will die in jail, he got off easy. Maybe he will get "screwed" in prison to make up for how he screwed us!

Its about time that a Judge stands upthe people instead of the rich. This judge was good and kind, but more needs to be done. If Ruth really felt the way she is saying, she would not accept any of the 2.5 million. Ruth would go get a job, and let the poor victims that her husband has destroyed try to repair and rebuild with the monies. I find the entire Madoff family just as guilty as Bernie since they were willing to hide assets mailed to them. I don't believe that Bernie did this horrible act alone and all the people involved should pay. I also feel prison is too good for him. That is wasting more taxpayer monies. Let's hang him before the wall street investors and make Bernie Madoff an example of what not to do. I am willing to provide the rope!! This angers me and I am not even one of his victims...I can just imagine how they feel.

I don't understand why he wasn't charged under the RICO act as his fraud crossed state lines. Then the government would have had no problem seizing all of his assets as they would be considered proceeds from his crime.

bernie madoff got exactly what he deserves i just hope he lives long enough to be miserible and even more tormented unfortuatly time will not replace the pain and suffering he imposed on his clients hopefully sale of his assets will help those who did lose everything

This all comes from greed, people wanting more and more, this would not have happened to so many people if they were not so greedy!Madoff's actions were very bad and he should be punished but 150 years?? who lives that long?? we should learn to forgive one another.. Jesus forgave us, look what they did to him!

Got exactly what he deserved! The man doesn't deserve to be free ever again. Let him rot in prison for the rest of his natural days. It's too bad that the average citizen has to pay for his prison time and keeping him alive.
