WEST PALM BEACH, FL-- In the span of 19 months, Father Francis Guinan may have stolen up to a half million dollars as pastor of St Vincent Ferrer Catholic Church in Delray Beach.
Today Judge Krista Marx came down hard on the fallen priest.
"You are in this situation because of your greed and gall," she said in a hushed courtroom full of priests and supporters of Guinan.
"Because of your corruption,” Marx said “the charitable heart of many has been stifled. People will remember you stood on the pulpit and said ‘give to me so I can give to the poor,’ that did not happen here. Your legacy will always be one of deceit. I sentence you to 4 years in the Department of Corrections.”
Father Guinan was taken from court in prison garb, headed for a state facility.
