SHERMAN OAKS, CA--Some folks in California witnessed a geyser of a water main break Monday.

The pressure from the 54 inch pipe burst created a geyser in front of a restaurant in Sherman Oaks.

It last for about an hour and an half while crews worked slowly to reduce it to a small fountain.

Fire officials say they were working slowly to prevent a surge of water pressure coursing through other pipes.

The pipe that broke carries recycled water for irrigation and industrial purposes.
