This is the 25th year that WPTV has coordinated the Food For Families food drive in our viewing area. The Food drive begins on Monday October 12th and runs through Monday November 23rd.
As always, the food raised during Food For Families provides not just holiday meals but in many cases fills pantries at soup kitchens and shelters so that the needy in our community can be fed for months to come.
During that time we ask you to hold food drives to benefit Food For Families:
- Schools
- Businesses
- Congregations
- Civic Groups
- Individuals
The non-perishable food items that are donated are distributed to over 150 non-profit agencies in our five-county viewing area. These agencies regularly feed or provide meals to individuals and families in need. The recipients of the donations are qualified through the non-profit organizations. The food drive has averaged over 600,000 pounds of food each year for the last several years.
