Ryan was born in Chicago, Illinois, and grew up and still roots for the Cubs, Bears and Bulls. He also has plenty of family living in the South Florida region and has always considered this area a second home. Since he was young he always wanted to be a sportscaster. "Every day I wake up and live out my dream of covering sports for a living. What else could I ask for?"
Upon graduation from Southern Illinois University in 1997, he started as a Sports Reporter in Indianapolis, Indiana at WIBC/Radio and Network Indiana. Then in 1998, Ryan got his start in Television working at WOLO-TV in Columbia, South Carolina as a Sports Reporter/Photographer. After two years in the south, he returned to the Midwest to work at WHBF-TV in the Quad Cities as the Weekend Sports Anchor/Reporter.
In 2001 Ryan won an AP Award taking 2nd Place for Best Sports Reporting in State of Illinois.
In September of 2002, Ryan started working at NewsChannel 5. As WPTV's Sports Reporter, he gets a taste of all the sports that go on around South Florida. From covering the Miami Dolphins, to the big High School Football games on Friday nights, he says "Being out at the games makes the job great."
Ryan enjoys spending time with his family and friends and of course watching and playing sports. He's a huge Cubs fan and hopes one day he'll actually see them make the World Series.
