Bio:

Evan Cohen was born and raised in Westchester, New York, and attended Scarsdale High School. Evan would go on to study Communications at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, graduating with a BA in 2003.

He held a number of internships with prestigious sports media outlets over the years, including stints with WFAN 660 AM in New York, ABC Sports, NBC Sports, and Madison Square Garden.  After college, Evan worked for ESPN Radio Madison and wrote for The Capital Times in Madison, writing about sports.

In 2003, Evan made his arrival in South Florida, debuting on ESPN 760’s airwaves with Palm Beach’s Gamenight from 7-9 pm.  His show was soon moved to the afternoon drive slot, and currently runs from 4-7 pm on weekdays.

Professionally, Evan has also held positions as a studio host for the Miami Hurricanes football radio network, and as a host on Fox Sports Radio.

Evan’s favorite sports teams are the New York Mets and New England Patriots, and his favorite athletes are Michael Jordan and Tom Brady. While he is not watching the Mets or Pats on television, you can catch Evan watching MTV reality shows, of which he is a big fan.

Obviously Evan has had a lot of success in the sports media business.  But success wasn’t exactly synonymous with “Evan Cohen” when he played quarterback for his high school football team.  His team won only one game while he was on it, and he was injured for that game.  As a starter, Evan’s team never won a single game.

Outside of work, the Mets, and MTV reality shows, Evan enjoys spending time with his girlfriend and playing basketball.  He still looks forward to the day when his Mets will win another World Series, as he was too young to remember their 1986 title.  The worst day in Evan’s life as a sports fan was when the Mets lost Game 7 of the 2006 National League Championship Series to the St. Louis Cardinals.

His favorite movies are The Departed, Gran Torino, and Hoosiers.  He is also an avid hip-hop fan, enjoying artists such as Jay-Z and Craig David.

Evan is excited for his gig at WPTV because of the station’s proven success and the great people he will work with.  He is excited to learn from and contribute to WPTV, while also still being a part of the Good Karma Broadcasting team.
