Before the age of eleven, they had lived as far north as Alaska and as far west as Japan (or would that be Far East). Chandra’s mother is a native of Japan.

Chandra herself is a first generation Japanese-American. Chandra spent her formative years in Augusta, Georgia where her father retired from the Army.
Chandra opted to attend college in her hometown after her father died and she became head of her household. She graduated Augusta College with a degree in Marketing and Art.

Chandra has received numerous community awards for her charitable involvements, among them: Place of Hope (a neighborhood of single family homes that care for foster children), The American Cancer Society, Urban Youth Impact, The Leukemia Society, The Boys and Girls Clubs, The Anti-Defamation League, The Salvation Army, The Richard David Kann Melanoma Foundation and The American Heart Association. She was recognized as “Woman of the Year” by Brandeis University Women and “Anchor of the Year” by the local chapter of American Women in Radio and Television. She is a founding member of Charities for Children, a non profit group that helps fund grassroots childrens’ advocacy programs. She also serves on the board of Trustees for Palm Beach Atlantic University.

Chandra co-anchors NewsChannel 5’s Midday and 5:00 weekday newscasts. She reports on a variety of subjects, but concentrates primarily on family related issues. Chandra lives in Palm Beach County with her husband, Rob Rabenecker, who is owner/operator of the Wellington Chick-Fil-A. They have two boys, Aidan and Ethan. Chandra is an active member of Christ Fellowship Church. When time permits, she enjoys exercising (so she can eat), cooking (so she can eat), vegetable gardening (so she can eat) and reading (cook books).
