Angela Sachitano

Angela Sachitano is no stranger to NewsChannel 5.  She reported for our newscast for almost two years while working as a broadcast reporter for our newspaper partner, Sun Sentinel.  While at the Sun Sentinel, Angela used her television background to develop major print articles into TV stories,  airing on WPTV as well as Miami’s CW newscasts.

Before coming to South Florida, Angela worked as a reporter for the NBC affiliate in Ft. Myers. She also worked for ABC affiliates in Panama City as the morning anchor, and as a reporter for WTVM in Columbus, Georgia. She has won numerous awards, including Associated Press awards for Best Hurricane Coverage and as an anchor for Best Newscast.

Angela is a fourth generation Floridian, born and raised in Ft. Myers and a University of Florida Broadcast Journalism graduate.

Angela believes her responsibility as a reporter is to tell powerful stories that inspire people to get up and change their community.   She tries to do this by being compassionate at all times and never taking the power of the television medium for granted.
