Jenn Strathman is an award-winner consumer investigative reporter whose stories have shut down businesses, sent people to jail, and led to lawsuits by Attorneys General. One investigation that exposed questionable business practices at a car dealer led a consumer to win a million dollar lawsuit.
Jenn has always been passionate about consumer issues, and has been fighting for what is right since she was a child. When her Connecticut town didn't have enough tennis courts to support the demand, Jenn petitioned the city and through her continuous efforts new courts were built. She now uses that passion to expose issues with other consumers. We all work hard for our money, and Jenn feels there's no reason to let someone take advantage of you by failing to deliver a service or selling you a product that doesn't work.
Her stories have been recognized with three Edward R. Murrow Awards, Emmy's, and several state broadcasting awards.
She got her start broadcasting when she was in high school and delivered the daily sports updates during morning announcements.
While attending Syracuse University, Jenn worked at ESPN International during summer and winter breaks. In 1999, Jenn traveled the country and covered the Women's World Cup for ESPN.
Jenn graduated from Syracuse with a degree in broadcast journalism and policy studies, and a passion for all things Orange! You can find her rooting on the ‘Cuse throughout basketball season.
In her spare time, you can find Jenn playing tennis, biking, hanging out at the beach, or planning her next adventure. She recently returned from New Zealand where she and her husband abseiled into a cave, took a hot air balloon ride, and hiked on a glacier. She's also rafted and hiked the Grand Canyon from the bottom to the top, and backpacked all over central and Eastern Europe.
She also likes to volunteer in the community, having been a Big Brother Big Sister mentor for over seven years.
Jenn has worked in South Bend, Kansas City, and Cleveland. After years covering snow storms, Jenn is thrilled to put her winter coat away for good and enjoy beautiful South Florida at the #1 station in the state.
Jenn looks forward to helping you with your consumer issue. You can watch her Contact 5 Consumer Watchdog segments every night on NewsChannel 5.
