RIVIERA BEACH, Fla. - Yvette Miley has been working in the television industry for the past 20 years. She said, "I was promoted to five o'clock producer at WPTV."
She started her television career at Newschannel 5 in the 80's. Her first job was on the assignment desk, then months later, she was promoted to producer.
"The things I was able to learn at WPTV were the cornerstone of my career," said Miley.
A career that has taken Yvette to New York. She's now the senior vice-president and executive editor at MSNBC and The Grio.com.
"Part of my responsibility is daily editorial guide for what we're putting on television and also what we're putting on the website," she said.
The Riviera Beach native is in charge with providing viewers with quality programs that aim to motivate, inspire and inform.
"Remember theres an impact. There is not one frame that is wasted, every frame, every second of a story can have an impact on the people who are watching, the people you are reporting on, and your community at large."
Although the Suncoast graduate lives in New York, she returns home several times every year. Because in Yvette's own words, she never forgets where she came from.
"Sometimes people say, you've made it despite coming from Riviera Beach, and I tell people, no, I made it specifically because I came from Riviera Beach."
