PALM BEACH COUNTY, Fla. - Kathi Kretzer shows off years of music lessons on this colorful piano. She has set up 18 painted pianos in public places from Delray Beach to Jupiter.
She is raising awareness for her foundation which helps underpriviledged kids afford music lessons. An opportunity she had because of her mother. Kathi said, "She sacrificed to give me music lessons and I think every child that wants to do that and as many children as we can reach should have that ability and that opportunity to study music."
Anyone is invited to play these pianos. But after November 17th, the pianos will be donated to children's charities and other local oranizations. "Like the Gary Carter piano that was donated by the Carter family after his untimely death is going to be donated to Palms West Pediatric Oncolgy Hospital for children to enjoy the baseball piano for many, many years."
Until then, she wants the community to enjoy. "It brings joy into people's lives that might not have a wonderful day. And we are all dealing with a lot with the economy and our jobs and this is a way to kind of forget it all and have a good time."
