Local Charity, Treasure Coast Food Bank, Needs Area Support to Receive $250,000 Grant from Chase Community Giving
Area residents can make a huge impact by voting on Facebook
STUART, Sept. 6, 2012 - Treasure Coast Food Bank, the Treasure Coast's largest hunger relief agency, is competing with charities nationwide for grants ranging from $10,000 to $250,000 from the Chase Community Giving program. Residents can help ensure its success by simply voting for Treasure Coast Food Bank through the Chase Community Giving program on Facebook.
Through the use of social media networks, the Chase Community Giving program has already directed more than $20 million dollars toward charities nationwide, putting the power to bring positive change across the nation into the hands of those who need it most. Due to enthusiasm, the program is being continued this year, giving hundreds of additional charities, including Treasure Coast Food Bank the opportunity to win grants to further their mission.
"Treasure Coast Food Bank is working hard to feed more than 107,000 food-insecure people every week. For every $1 we receive, we can provide 7 meals. Imagine the impact a $250,000 grant from Chase Community Giving would have on closing the meal gap in our community," said Judy Cruz, Food Bank CEO.
The Fall 2012 round of the Chase Community Giving program is designed to benefit smaller and local charities by being limited to 501(c)3 charities with operating budgets under $10 million. The top eligible charity receives $250,000 and the remaining 195 top charities earn $10,000 through $100,000 awards, for a total of $5 million in grants. Voting is from Sept. 6-19.
With the support of our volunteers, fans and local residents, Treasure Coast Food Bank has the opportunity to get much needed resources to implement big changes, Cruz said, adding that many who receive help are local working families.
" My husband and I each have two part-time jobs, so we spend a lot of money on gas. This food is a big help," one local client said.
