THURSDAY: Ticket Distribution for Grassroots Event with President Obama in West Palm Beach with State Rep. Mark Pafford
WEST PALM BEACH – Thursday, Sept. 6, State Rep. Mark Pafford will launch OFA-Florida's ticket distribution for President Barack Obama's grassroots event at the Palm Beach County Convention Center. Rep. Pafford will speak with Palm Beach County residents as they pick up tickets at OFA-Florida's Riviera Beach office, thank volunteers for their dedication to President Obama's re-election campaign, and be on hand to talk with press.
At his grassroots event on Sunday, the President will speak about what's at stake in this election for Floridians and his vision for moving this country forward. President Obama understands that Americans have a choice in this election between two competing visions of how to grow the economy, create more jobs and pay down the debt. President Obama has already cut taxes for a typical family by $3,600 since taking office – helping families send their kids to college, buy their first home, and pay for health and child care. The President has also placed seniors' health care at the forefront of his administration, securing $4,200 in savings for all beneficiaries and closing the gap, known as the "doughnut hole," by $600. President Obama has committed to fight for the middle class and those striving to be in the middle class, because he believes that everyone deserves a fair shot and an economy built to last, created from the middle out and not the top down.
The Romney-Ryan plan would cost Florida seniors an average of $6,400 a year by turning Medicare into a voucher program, charging seniors more so they can cut taxes for millionaires. In addition, the Romney-Ryan plan would eliminate existing benefits like free annual check-ups and wellness care visits for seniors. President Obama strongly opposes turning essential programs like Medicare and Social Security – which seniors have been paying for their entire lives – into vouchers, or leaving them up to the stock market. Instead, he is working to preserve and protect a secure and healthy retirement for seniors, today and for generations to come.
