Deadline for Florida GOP primary voter registration rapidly approaching

RIVIERA BEACH, Fla. - Time is running out to register to vote before the Florida Republican Primary Election on January 31, 2012. Florida residents have until January 3, 2012 to register to vote or change their party affiliation before that date. Florida has a closed primary, meaning only registered republicans may vote in the primary election.

If you are not sure if you're registered to vote or to receive an absentee ballot, you can go to www.pbcelections.org in Palm Beach County or http://registration.elections.myflorida.com .

Last year, the Florida Republican Party moved up the state's primary election date. Since then, elections offices have printed new absentee ballots. Today, the Palm Beach County Supervisor of Elections office is printing and mailing 4,800 absentee ballots. They're among more than 370-thousand absentee ballots expected to be mailed statewide today.
